HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: Our mission is to improve the health status of people of African-Americans in California by influencing policies and programs that advance health promotion and disease prevention. Our statewide community-based research project is examining affects of living in a segregated neighborhood on health and tobacco-use. In Sacramento our we are working to reduce secondhand smoke in cars and homes of African Americans and providing services and resources to help African American smokers to stop smoking.
